Brewing beer has been a goal of the Company Distilling team since opening the Townsend distillery in 2022. Company took an integrated approach when developing the design for their brewing equipment and processes; one that would allow for both brewing and distilling. A tactic that is both innovative, clean and efficient, guests will experience some of the best quality beer and distilled spirits in the state of Tennessee.

Company’s approach to brewing and beer styles reflects tradition and craft, while celebrating the local and regional heritage of the places they call home. Company focuses on brewing session-able, traditional and refreshing beer styles. Some you’ll find on tap the entire year, while others are more seasonal offerings.

Irish Red Ale ABV 5.8%

This Irish Red Ale is brewed in the style of traditional English Bitters and offers the luck of the Irish in the form of distinctively copper-reddish color brew. The Roasted Barley used in the grain bill is the main driver behind both the color and distinctive flavor of this beer. A subtle caramel/toffee sweetness is complimented by a perceived dry finish. The light-medium yet complex body is also driven by the Roasted Barley. Our Irish Red Ale is only lightly bittered using traditional English style hops, Willamette and Goldings. These provide traditional hop flavors with a well-balanced earthy character. Company’s exceptional beer fermentation process creates clean, crisp, and delightful brews and this offering is no exception. Lallemand’s Nottingham yeast provides the light, fruity and estery flavors typical of an Irish Red Ale.

American Lager ABV 5.8%

Company Distilling’s American Lager style beer is the pinnacle of a light, refreshing, and enjoyable beer. This Lager is all about quality and balance. It possesses significantly more body than the average American mass-produced lagers yet it retains the thirst-quenching properties of those lighter bodied beers. The flavor profile of our lager is relatively neutral in that neither the malt, hops or yeast derived flavors dominate the brew. Exceptional fermentation performance results in a light malt character and a subtle but satisfying delicate sweetness which is counterbalanced by the light bitterness of the traditional cascade hops.

New England IPA ABV 7.2%

The New England IPA falls into the broad range of “Specialty IPA” styles and Company Distilling’s version is truly special. It pays homage to what is considered the first New England IPA, Heady Topper. Our version of his remarkable beer is just as “Juicy” but without the haze.  By juicy, we refer to the tropical fruit forward character that the select hops impart to this beer. Aromas of pineapple and orange juice dominate this beer so strongly that you’d almost think that actual fruit was added but it is not. The hop varieties used are Centennial, Amarillo, Columbus, Apollo, and Eureka. Note that none of these are used as long boiling, bittering hops. All hops are added at flame-out or later with a significant percentage used in dry hopping allowing all the delicate fruit aromas and flavors of the hop varieties to shine. A modest percentage of malted wheat is used in the grain bill giving the beer a lighter body and sweeter flavor. The combined ingredients and process result in a crisp, fruity, delicious and easy drinking beer that belies the higher alcohol content at approximately 7.5% ABV. This offering deviates from your typical NEIPAs in that it is perfectly clarified.  Haziness has long been considered a defect in brewing but in the last few years, Haze has become he craze. Our brewer will stubbornly contend that any beer that tastes good hazy will taste even better in crystal clear form.
